Description

What are you going to do?
Do you want to use your experience in Computer Vision and AI to help introduce our new Vision technology? Then read our vacancy for Computer Vision Expert at Livestock.
As a Computer Vision Expert, you will contribute to the introduction of Vision technology in dairy farms around the world. We are expanding our platform with intelligent, scalable pipelines that help farmers monitor cows via video footage. From edge devices deployed on-site to intelligent cloud-based processing – we transform raw sensor and video data into actionable insights for farmers and veterinarians.
As Computer Vision Expert, you will take ownership of this new technology and bring it to the next phase. A unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working hands-on with AI and computer vision, and wants to have direct impact on future products. You will focus on optimizing and validating models based on real-world use. Together with your teammates, you’ll ensure that complex models run reliably on edge devices and form a trusted part of customer-facing services. This also includes contact with internal and external stakeholders and setting up experiments.

Your responsibilities

  • Optimization: Making existing AI/Computer Vision models robust and production-ready.
  • Edge model acceleration: Converting and optimizing models using ONNX and TensorRT for deployment on edge devices.
  • Development: Training, validating and fine-tuning models using PyTorch.
  • Documentation & knowledge sharing: Documenting design choices, optimization techniques and validation results.

Your team
As a Computer Vision Expert, you will be part of the new “Vision Insights” team. A new technology has been developed by our Expansion team, and you will work with other teams and a Software Engineer to take it to the next level. The “Vision Insights” team is a multidisciplinary group responsible for developing computer vision algorithms, building and maintaining software applications, managing data pipelines, and ensuring system quality and reliability through thorough testing.
You will work closely with the Software Engineer in your team, while also engaging with other teams and disciplines within R&D. The teams focus on software for both farmers in the dairy industry and our global business partners. Our goal is to continuously improve life on the farm. These teams are multidisciplinary and follow our Agile way of working. There is a constant stream of new features based on internal insights and customer feedback.
Our offer
As a Computer Vision Expert at Nedap, you will make a valuable contribution to our goal: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. In addition to your salary, you are entitled to a thirteenth month, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a shareholder of Nedap. At Nedap, everything revolves around trust and autonomy. You determine your own working hours and vacation days. We also highly value personal and professional growth. You will receive a comprehensive introduction, and we encourage you to continuously develop yourself.
Required experience and skills
As a Computer Vision Expert, it’s important that you are flexible and can work with a tech stack that is still evolving. You know how to make autonomous decisions that help guide the project in the right direction. You are comfortable selecting and applying the right tools and infrastructure, and you are a strong communicator who enjoys collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines.

You recognize yourself in the following:

  • Experience: 5 years of experience in machine learning, including at least 1 year in computer vision, preferably with PyTorch
  • Model conversion and acceleration: Familiar with model conversion and acceleration (e.g. ONNX, TensorRT) for deployment on edge devices
  • Programming: Extensive experience with Python
  • Video data processing: Experience in video data processing (OpenCV, FFmpeg, GStreamer)
  • Experience with software engineering practices: version control (git), and writing maintainable code
  • Language skills: Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus

Good to know: You are available for 32–38 hours per week. Hybrid (remote) working is common at Nedap, and you and your team agree on your own working hours for a healthy work-life balance. Ideally, you are present at least three times a week on our campus in Groenlo.
About Nedap in Livestock
We help farmers enhance the performance and well-being of individual cows, minimizing workload and resource use. This supports better life on the farm for people and animals, while helping dairies worldwide reduce their environmental impact.
