THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is an ideal opportunity for a student to gain experience of working within IT in an academic environment. The successful candidate would be working closely with a vibrant and inclusive team of Computing Support Officers. The candidate should be a current Edinburgh University student. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop soft skills such as time-management; work prioritisation; work as a member of a team; project write-up; along with the technical skills involved with computer hardware. On completion of the internship there will be the opportunity to present the completed project at one of the regular team meetings of the School’s computing team.
This post is located within the User Support Team who provide front-line IT support and a procurement service to all staff, students and visitors within the School.
Employ.ed on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools. It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. You cannot take part if you are a visiting student, or you have already taken part in the programme before. This is a 12 week internship post and is available from 9th June 2024. This post is full-time (35 hours per week), working onsite, based in Appleton Tower.

Your skills and attributes for success: (insert up to 5 top criteria)

  • Familiarity with DICE
  • Familiarity with computing hardware
  • Knowledge of either Windows, Mac or Linux
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety work issues
