Project Context and Scope Under the overall supervision of the Diaspora Engagement Focal Point at the Sub-Office and the technical guidance of IOM Engineers, the Technical Consultant will assist the Senior Project Assistant (Engineer) in the implementation of the Bahay Matibay (BM) and Tahanang Ligtas (TL) shelter retrofitting / rebuilding, including but not limited to conducting site and shelter assessments to the prospect beneficiaries; recommending qualified beneficiaries for loan availment; preparing engineering design, scope of works, bill of quantities for the MFI’s reference for loan amounts to be disbursed; constant monitoring and construction support to ensure project completion; and preparation of reports on the progress of the beneficiaries’ shelter retrofitting / rebuilding works. Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing This IOM consultancy is primarily contributing to the attainment of shelter retrofitting / rebuilding works of the beneficiaries under the “A Diaspora-guaranteed Microfinance Model for Resilient Shelters” Project. Secondarily, this consultancy is contributing to IOM’s transfer of knowledge on these good practices that allow communities to recover faster from disasters and be better able to withstand future climate shocks, making the investment and construction more sustainable.
