At Bend Parks and Recreation we are committed to delivering the best customer service possible at all of our facilities. About the job: The Concessionaire position prepares, serves food and beverage items and serves as cashier for concession operations at our various facilities. Performs related preparation and cleaning duties. A day in the life: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Greets customers and takes orders. Prepares and serves pre-packaged and/or semi-prepared food. Serves as cashier including using point of sale system and processing cash and credit transactions. Completes opening and closing procedures for concession operations. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of concession area, equipment, and surrounding areas. Assists Customer Service Specialist 2 and 3 including: directing public to activities, answering multi-line telephone, processing basic transactions and providing information on programs and facilities. Assists with inventorying and stocking of products. Assists with emergency support as directed by others. Acts as a Mandatory Reports; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This is a part-time, seasonal position with a varying schedule. Season: late-May to late-August. Facilities operate from 5:30am-9:15pm Monday-Friday and 7:45am-6:15pm on weekends. Shifts available are usually afternoons and evenings. Requirements What you'll need for success: Strong Knowledge of: Customer service and basic food service practices; and Basic math. Skill and Ability to: Follow directions and procedures; Work efficiently while multitasking; Communicate effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with people of all ages and abilities; Prepare and handle food and beverage items according to established procedures; Handle cash and credit transactions accurately; Operate a point of sale station; and Establish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative working relationships with all contacts. What we’re looking for: Required Experience & Training: High school diploma or currently attending school; AND Some previous related volunteer or work experience; OR Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training. License & Certification: Possession of, or ability to obtain within 5 days of hire, a current Oregon Food Handler Card. Supervision Responsibilities: Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this position. Supervision Received: Works under the direction of a supervisor. Carries out work independently but work and decisions are typically reviewed prior to final execution. Working Conditions: The following are working conditions, including environmental and physical demands, required for this classification. Duties are primarily performed in a concession stand, which can be hot and noisy. While preparing food, there may be exposure to steam, fumes and odors. Work is usually performed during evening and weekend hours. Physical exertion may include squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted when cleaning, sanitizing, inventorying and stocking products. Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Manual dexterity and coordination; daily precise control of fingers and hand movements while operating telephone, kitchen tools, cash register, and computer. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
