Description Responsible for forming, smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete. The ability to work with other members of the construction crew to successfully complete projects within specifications and in a quality manner to meet or exceed customer expectations. Duties and responsibilities: Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and align them. Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed. Spread, level, and smooth concrete to grade, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float. Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge. Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process. Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms. Cut sections of concrete utilizing a street saw. Produce rough concrete surface, using broom. Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine. performs other duties as required or assigned Requirements Working knowledge of forming and finishing different types of concrete (including curb and not limited to flat work). Physical dexterity to pour, grade, and finish concrete, involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. Must be able to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions. Physical requirements Ability to lift 50 or more pounds. Must be able to work outdoors and withstand different weather elements. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift, carry, bend, crawl, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, and crouch. Physical dexterity to pour, grade, and finish concrete, involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
