PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of verifiable experience operating slipform paving equipment (GOMACO experience, especially with the Commander III Xtreme, is highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with G+ control systems and basic troubleshooting of electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and stringline layouts accurately.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulics and electronics.
  • Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions and commit to long shifts as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Machine Setup & Calibration:


    • Prepare the paver for operation by configuring the G+ Control System, including radius programming, elevation, and alignment.

    • Calibrate All-Track Steering (ATS) and All-Track Positioning (ATP) systems for accurate track movement and leg articulation.
    • Set up mold and trimmer head positions using smart cylinder adjustments for precise horizontal and vertical alignment.
    • Interface and configure guidance systems (stringline, 2D, or 3D) to ensure an accurate paving path.
    • Paving Operations:


      • Operate the Commander III Xtreme to perform curb and gutter, and sidewalk including tight-radius slipforming.

      • Monitor and adjust paving parameters such as speed, elevation, vibration, and steering in real-time using the G+ control panel.
      • Ensure consistent concrete flow and finish quality by coordinating with the concrete delivery team and using onboard sensors and cameras.
      • Adjust mold height, offset, and slope as needed to maintain correct profile and drainage specifications.
      • Equipment Maintenance & Inspection:


        • Perform daily pre-start inspections and fluid checks (fuel, hydraulic oil, coolant).

        • Conduct routine maintenance: track tensioning, mold cleaning, trimmer servicing, sensor calibration, and lubrication.
        • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or control system issues promptly.
        • Safety & Compliance:


          • Follow all site safety rules and operate machinery in compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.

          • Ensure all guards, covers, and Emergency Stops are functional and used appropriately.
          • Maintain safe working zones around the paver, including spotters and signalers when necessary.
          • Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or incidents immediately to supervision.
          • Documentation & Communication:


            • Keep detailed logs of machine operation hours, maintenance performed, and production rates.

            • Communicate effectively with the paving crew, grade checker, and surveyor to maintain line and grade.
            • Interpret and follow blueprints, project specifications, and field layout instructions.
            • Provide feedback to the foreman on machine performance, production challenges, or improvement opportunities.
