We’re looking for an experienced Concrete Specialist to join our Traffic Optimisation Projects team in East Tāmaki, Auckland. You’ll get stuck into all aspects of concrete works – from prep and formwork through to pouring and finishing – helping deliver safer roads, smoother intersections and better transport connections for local communities. Mō te tūranga | About the role This is a hands-on role based out of our East Tāmaki yard, working mainly on: Minor road and safety improvements Town centre upgrades Busways and bus stops Pedestrian crossings and footpaths You’ll be part of a small, tight-knit crew that backs each other, gets stuck in and takes pride in a clean, accurate finish. Day to day, you’ll be: Placing, finishing and curing concrete to a high standard Working across a mix of sites around Tāmaki Makaurau Balancing a relaxed, practical on-site vibe with serious standards when it comes to safety and quality The work is varied, and when the pressure comes on, the team pulls together to get the job done safely and on time. Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities Set up and strip down concrete formwork, ensuring surfaces are clean and ready for concrete placement Accurately mix and place concrete to required specifications on projects including minor safety improvements, intersections, town centre upgrades, busways, bus stops and pedestrian facilities Carry out daily concrete finishing using various methods (e.g. trowelling, brooming, edging, exposed) to achieve the required surface and quality Safely use power tools, pumps, screeds and other concrete-related machinery as part of your day-to-day work when required Assist with monitoring concrete during curing, protecting fresh pours from damage and ensuring specified finish and tolerance are achieved Contribute to daily tailgate meetings, raising any safety, quality or productivity issues and helping plan the day’s work Carry out general labourer duties as needed – including site clean-up, prepping sub-base and compacting, moving materials, assisting with traffic/pedestrian control (as directed) and supporting other crew members Assist with daily site set-up and pack-down, including fencing, barriers, signs and housekeeping to keep the work area safe and tidy Clean, check and maintain tools, plant and small equipment so they remain in good working order Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with At least 3 years’ continuous experience working as a concrete labourer or concrete specialist Strong skills in concrete finishing, with the ability to use methods such as screeding, bull floating, hand/magnesium floating, hand and power trowelling, broom/textured finishes, edging and jointing, and applying appropriate curing techniques A Full Class 1 NZ driver licence The ability to work weekdays, weekends and nights as required to meet project and concrete programme demands Experience or knowledge of locating and detecting underground services (desirable) A reliable, team-focused attitude and willingness to pitch in with general labouring tasks You’ll be someone who’s straight‑up, easy to work with, and proud of the quality you deliver. Responsibilities
