The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Concrete Leading Hand to run day-to-day site operations and lead a crew of up to 8. You’ll be hands-on in the pour while coordinating people, plant, programme and safety so the job finishes on time, to spec, and without rework.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead, mentor and set the pace for a crew (up to 8) on commercial slabs, footings, external paving and decorative finishes
  • Plan the day: pre-starts, task allocation, targets, sequencing and hold points.
  • Read drawings/specs, set out, confirm levels, check dimensions and tolerances.
  • Oversee formwork, reinforcement placement and concrete supply.
  • Hands-on pouring, screeding and finishing.
  • Quality control: ITPs/hold points, defects prevention, as-built mark-ups and photos.
  • Safety leadership: present to toolbox talks, SWMS/JSA compliance, site inductions, housekeeping.
  • Materials & logistics: call-offs, deliveries, plant bookings, small procurement.
  • Liaise professionally with Site Managers/Foremen, engineers and inspectors; raise RFIs/clarifications early.
  • Keep basic site records: diary, timesheets/approvals, delivery dockets, test results.
  • Manage variations and small measure-ups where required.
  • Look after the crew: standards, skills training and managing a respectful/friendly site culture.

What You’ll Need (Essential)

  • Working with Children Check, White Card, current driver’s license, reliable car and tools.
  • Solid background in concreting on commercial sites (slabs, footings, external works).
  • Proven experience leading a crew (Leading Hand/Working Foreman or similar).
  • Confident with plans/specs, set-out and lasers; strong eye for detail and finish.
  • Able to coordinate pumps, trucks and deliveries against the programme.
  • Safety-first mindset with clean, organised sites and good paperwork habits.
  • Fit for manual work, punctual, dependable, and a clear communicator.

Nice to Have

  • Tickets for small plant (e.g. forklift, excavator, skid steer).
  • Experience on school/government sites and understanding of compliance expectations.
  • Basic computer/smartphone skills for site apps, timesheets and photos.

Why Join Grantscapes?

  • $45–$50/hr based on capability, with paid overtime.
  • RDOs per CFMEU calendar (every second Monday).
  • Consistent pipeline across quality commercial projects.
  • Supportive team, straight communication and room to grow.

Start Time: 7:00am (unless advised otherwise)
