Description

We’re looking for someone with a strong interest in construction materials, who is eager to learn and has a foundational understanding of concrete testing, even if it’s only theoretical. You’ll receive training for conducting field tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all documentation is completed properly. This role involves a blend of fieldwork, paperwork, and lab support.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pre-Work and Equipment Preparation:
  • Prepare your work truck with the necessary equipment and tools for the day.
  • Keep the truck clean and stocked.
  • Confirm site appointments with clients to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is clean and ready for use.
  • Testing and Field Duties:
  • Review project drawings with a site representative to ensure proper test locations.
  • Perform concrete testing for properties like air content, slump, and temperature.
  • Report Completion:
  • Complete and submit accurate field reports by the end of each day.
  • Training & Calibration:
  • Attend all required training courses.
  • Perform calibrations for concrete testing equipment.
  • Certifications & Performance:
  • Take relevant exams to obtain required certifications.
  • Participate in an annual performance review with your supervisor or manager.

Education & Skills

  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • A background or coursework in Civil, Construction, or Materials Engineering is a plus.
  • CCIL certification is an asset
  • Foundational Knowledge: An understanding of concrete testing principles is a key asset.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to perform tests accurately and maintain equipment for precise results.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to lift and carry equipment (at least 50 lbs) and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
