Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Beausoleil A is currently seeking a full time Concurrent Disorder Therapists. The purpose of the position is to plan and deliver concurrent disorders treatment which may include individual or group psychotherapy, support to review and practice skills, and psychoeducation to patients/clients, and/or families.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform clinical assessment for clients/patient for concurrent disorders services including system navigation with other available services.
  • Conduct assessments to inform symptoms experienced by client/patient and individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group evidence-based structured psychotherapy, and/or psychoeducation and/or support services to clients/patients and/or families
  • Provide clinical observation, assessment, documentation, and treatment based on client/patient and program needs in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical consultation and related activities as needed.
  • Collaborate with patients in determining discharge needs and develop individualized discharge plans.
  • Supervise addiction counseling students on placement.
  • Participate in ongoing education as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports in adherence to Regulatory College and program specific requirements, including collecting relevant data to evaluate client/patient and service outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional team members in the planning and provision of care

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related discipline required
  • Formal Post-Secondary training in Mental Health and Addictions required
  • Master’s degree in a health related discipline preferred
  • Registered member in good standing with applicable professional college (e.g. College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario) required
  • Competence to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy per an applicable professional college (e.g. College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario) required
  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in triage, clinical assessment and treatment of mental health and addictions
  • 1 year of previous experience in the delivery of evidence based psychotherapy triage and clinical assessment (e.g. CBT)
  • Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation)
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills.
