The Conflicts Researcher is responsible for researching potential conflicts of interest as a key component of the law firm’s new business intake and lateral hiring processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs quality control reviews of client/matter intake, including reviewing and analyzing client/matter intake submissions to ensure that data is accurate, complete, and adheres to established policies and procedures. Performs conflict of interest searches for clients, matters, and/or other new business, using Intapp, the Firm’s conflicts and intake database. Performs conflicts of interest searches for lateral attorney candidates and incoming Staff, Project Attorneys, and Summer/Fall Associates, using Intapp, the Firm’s conflicts and intake database. Reviews and analyzes conflict of interest reports to identify false positive hits; adjusts search terms and search strategies, if necessary. Conducts factual research using internal and external resources, which may include researching corporate relationships and discussions with attorneys and/or staff to gather information and/or clarification regarding a party or matter. Collaborates with the ICS team and the Office of General Counsel to research, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest. Performs database maintenance, data entry, and special projects, as requested by the Intake Manager. Continues development of skills, process improvements, and knowledge of the applicable rules regarding conflicts of interest and trends/changes in the legal industry Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to compile, review, filter, synthesize, and interpret information which is varied in content and format. Strong research skills using internal and external resources, with proven aptitude to quickly learn new applications. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to produce a high quality and accurate work product with minimal supervision in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and extremely tight deadline pressure. Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes. Identify and respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback/follow-up as appropriate. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide high-quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels within the firm as well as external contacts. Ability to self-manage and work independently in a hybrid, and in-office setting. Ability to write effective business correspondence that presents information and/or responds to questions from attorneys or staff in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree; any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an administrative role; experience in a legal environment preferred.
