WHO WE ARE:
The People’s Powerhouse is a community-interest company with a membership (movement) of likeminded people, working across the North of England to ‘platform’ civic voice and build inclusive, people-powered leadership.
We believe in the power of convening and bring Northerners together - residents, grassroots groups, local leaders, businesses, and politicians in positive, reciprocal exchange; to co-create the future of the North, shaping it from the inside-out and from the ground-up.
Founded in 2017, the organisation grew from a collective desire for more democratic, people-led decision-making. We celebrate the coming together of people through the annual “This Is the North” Convention, where communities share insight, challenge power, and influence change.
JOB DESCRIPTION - KEY PRIORITIES:
· Lead on the planning execution and delivery of high quality, high impact project and partnership development across the North
· Handle multiple workstreams at pace – be comfortable across a variety of demands, and turning around pieces of work in a timely fashion
· Act with urgency – recognising how the actions we perform now, influence future horizons
· Resource development and management: project budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies
· Provide guidance, support and performance management
· Bring expertise in the development of digital/ virtual/ tech environments
· Tracking, collating and communicating impact using mixed methods - ensuring outputs and outcomes meet strategic aspirations, quality standards and contractual obligations
· Representing People’s Powerhouse at regional/national events
· Communications and outreach - coordinate communications with stakeholders, producing regular progress reports and presentations (as appropriate).
· Support strategic planning and resource development – seeking out opportunities to scale the reach and range of inclusive activities
We’re looking for someone who is willing to utilise all their capabilities to:
ROLE SUMMARY:
People’s Powerhouse is a unique, pan-northern organisation that is on a journey using the power of convening to do things differently. We want to ensure the views and voices of Northerners are reflected in the decisions that affect their lives.
We’re seeking a values-led individual for the role of Connection and Impact Manager working with a small team of purpose-led professionals. You may be based anywhere across the North of England.
The role will help to drive forward the strategic development, delivery, and impact of this work. You will play a pivotal role in representing the People’s Powerhouse across the North and nationally, championing inclusive, resident-led change.
The People’s Powerhouse’s newly created strategy has three main paths, which are:
Position: Positioning the organisation for greater impact.
Platform: Creating better platforms for engaging ordinary people and power holders for meaningful change.
Sustainability: Taking a shared responsibility for building legacy and sustainability into everything we do.
This role requires a self-motivated, results-focused and entrepreneurial individual to deliver against these work streams to ensure the work is measurable, meaningful, memorable, and sustainable.
The post-holder will contribute to the design and of delivery of multi-strand projects, ensuring our organisational ‘three paths’ strategy: Position, Platform, and Sustainability, is embedded across a growing portfolio of regional partnerships with the primary focus on robust evaluation and impact measurement of the effectiveness of the work.
When we talk about the effectiveness and impact of the work we mean – the impact that connectedness and relational activity has on changing mindsets, behaviors and ways of doing across the communities, sectors and systems within which we all live and work. We believe that when Northern people’s voices are ‘actively’ listened to in a neutral way, better decisions are made.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Connection and Impact Manager will embody the People’s Powerhouse mission, building bridges between people and power and will help to develop and embed new thinking and ways of working across the systems.
The role will be responsible for the oversight, management, and delivery of key projects. It will focus on articulating the impact of our work against agreed deliverables, ensuring that projects align with organisational objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Its main purpose is to build and operationalise the systems and mechanisms that enable power-sharing; whether that relates to young people, health, housing, or the environment (it is a cross-issue and pan-northern opportunity), and to share the impacts of these connections.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
We’re looking for someone who is willing to utilise all their capabilities to:
