If you’re looking for a career where you can find meaning and purpose, come join our Business Unit as the Conservation Specialist.

Reporting to the Protect Land and Water Lead, this position will need to:

  • Coordinate the work of cross-functional teams towards a desired outcome and different projects.
  • Throughout the project lifecycle, will monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, communicate project status information to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance of peatland projects with internal policies and external requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and assist with budget development related to strategic projects.
  • Manage and implement multiple complex projects, including managing project teams, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability.
  • May manage or participate in complex negotiations;
  • May supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, including training and professional development.
  • Manage contracts, monitor outcomes, and prepare reports to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision and make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
  • Support in development and co-create the design and implementation of the Land and Water Protection strategy for Chile, especially in Iconic Place Mediterranean, and Iconic Place Patagonia which takes advantage of TNC’s strengths, supports the work of our partners, aligns with TNC’s Shared Conservation Agenda and definitions for iconic landscapes in Chile.
  • Support the restoration and conservation projects carried out by TNC in each of the Iconic Places (Mediterranean and Patagonia).
  • Support in the protection and restoration projects of wetlands, peatlands, and other water bodies across TNC projects.
  • Strengthen TNC´s partnerships with stakeholders to advance shared conservation goals.
  • Provide technical support in the development of proposals for obtaining resources and internal alignment to help advance the program.
  • Provide technical support for the development of innovative (financial) mechanisms for conservation using national contexts and international experiences.
  • Domestic travel may be required frequently to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders from various backgrounds and professions, including but not limited to media, government officials, and internal scientists.
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in natural resource management, similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation.
  • Experience engaging with people and local communities, either through surveys or social science related studies.
