CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Sustainable Construction Services (SCS) is seeking a hardworking and reliable Construction and Operations Assistant to join our team. This full-time role is suitable for a candidate who seeks versatility, as it combines on-site project work with office-based tasks. The role will provide detailed insight into on-site activities, construction design and methods, as well as quantity surveying, sales and project management.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Experience and an interest in the construction industry are crucial for this role. To be successful in this position, the candidate will require the following attributes:

  • Legally permitted to work in Australia
  • Valid White Card (Construction Induction Card)
  • Bachelor’s degree (engineering highly favourable)
  • Trade or labouring experience (highly favourable)
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and other Microsoft programs
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The primary responsibility of a Construction Assistant is to facilitate the completion of projects both on-site and from our office based in Somerton (Victoria 3062). On-site project work is located across metropolitan Melbourne, with some projects in regional areas. The role may also facilitate a visa extension or sponsorship for the right candidate. As a Construction Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

Site Based Project Work:

  • Assist lead installers with construction tasks (under supervision)
  • Use of basic tools
  • Lifting and manual handling of materials
  • General site clean-up
  • General labouring duties

Office Based Project Work:

  • Support the sales team (under supervision)
  • Prepare drawings for tendering
  • Quantity surveying
  • Prepare tender documents
  • Research and product development
  • Project support duties (contractor and material tendering)
