Our client, a prominent commercial general contractor in Central Virginia, is seeking an experienced Construction Bookkeeper to play a key role in supporting their financial operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in construction-specific bookkeeping tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is primarily a sedentary office role, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoice coding, payment processing, and lien waiver management.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and vendor statements monthly.
  • Maintain job cost records, ensuring accurate allocation of expenses to specific projects.
  • Prepare and process payroll for office and field staff, including tracking certified payroll for prevailing wage projects.
  • Assist with monthly billing, including preparation of pay applications (e.g., AIA forms) and progress billing to clients.
  • Track subcontractor insurance certificates and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for financial documentation.
  • Provide clerical support for audits and financial reporting as needed.Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate financial data for ongoing projects.
