As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced Controller to lead and elevate our financial operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance for The McFate Group. This role is critical to ensure the financial health and integrity of our company as we manage complex, high-value construction and strategic planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in construction industry accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and WIP schedules
  • Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Ann Arbor and collaborate across departments
Responsibilities
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including A/R, A/P, payroll, job costing, and general ledger
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis
  • Ensure timely project billing and cost tracking in collaboration with project managers
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
  • Implement internal controls and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes
  • Coordinate year-end audits and tax filings with external CPA firm
  • Other duties may include insurance review, bonding oversight and banking relations.
