OUR OPPORTUNITY

Our Building Group (Toronto) team is growing and we’re looking for an Estimator with over 5 years of experience working on major, complex ground up and repositioning projects in the industrial, commercial, and institutional sector. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your existing relationships with local sub-trades and your knowledge of local market conditions to contribute to the company’s success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Estimate and support pre-construction for specified projects within the GB Building Group.
  • Prepare detailed estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction) and/ or prepare accurate preliminary construction budgets to include subcontractor scopes, bids analysis.
  • Ensure that the estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project.
  • Provide clients with package of pricing, scope letters, schedule and lead times; communicate quotes and budget status of the project with subcontractors, clients and team members.
  • Confirm actual site conditions of projects by conducting site surveys and in collaboration with project team make recommendations to the client and design members on best approach and advising on constructability issues during preconstruction.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, designers, architectural, structural, civil, and MEP engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors and other project team members.
  • Play a key role in securing new work by participating in RFP responses, proposals and presentations.
  • Represent Govan Brown at all times in a professional manner that is consistent with the company’s values, including maintaining current project-specific knowledge, being prepared for project meetings, proactively communicating with the project team, and meeting deadlines and commitments.

Keep current on changes in trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
