Description Construction Estimator | Custom Home Building Materials Full-Time | Charleston, SC This is an in-person position and is open to candidates who already live in the Charleston, SC area. Relocation assistance is not available. This position is for an individual estimator, not an estimating company. Southern Lumber & Millwork is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Charleston, South Carolina. Since 1941, our third-generation, family owned and operated company has supplied premium lumber, windows, doors, millwork, moulding, and specialty building materials to custom home builders, remodelers, contractors, and architects throughout the Charleston area and South Carolina Lowcountry. If you enjoy working with construction plans, solving problems, and helping bring custom homes to life, we'd love to meet you. As an Estimator, you will prepare accurate material takeoffs and estimates for residential construction projects by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project documents. Estimates may include framing lumber, exterior products, interior trim, moulding, doors, windows, and other building materials needed for custom homes and renovations. What You'll Do Review blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to understand project requirements Prepare accurate material takeoffs and estimates for residential construction projects Estimate framing, exterior, interior, millwork, window, door, and lumber packages Measure quantities and track project metrics Prepare reliable and accurate cost estimates Read and interpret residential construction blueprints Collaborate with the sales and estimating teams Develop an understanding of residential construction methods and project management processes Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy What We're Looking For Strong math and analytical skills Highly organized with excellent attention to detail Self-motivated and dependable Effective time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills A willingness to learn and grow New to residential estimating?
