Our client, a general contractor located in the Central-East End of Ottawa, is currently searching for a Construction Estimator to join their growing team. This company does both residential (75%) and light commercial (25%) construction.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Architectural Technician/Technologist, Construction Management, or CET Diploma is ideal; or related experience
• Experience using AutoCAD (or similar floorplan CAD software) to read and interpret drawings
• Must have intermediate MS Excel skills
• Previous estimating, quoting, and/or project coordination experience considered an asset
• Eagerness to learn and develop new skills
• Strong English communication skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Ability to handle stress and work to meet tight deadlines
• Previous bidding experience (commercial RFPs) considered an asset

Key Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for various construction projects
• Prepare cost estimates using MS Excel templates
• Develop scopes of work for renovations, additions, basements, kitchens, decks, fences, and custom interior projects
• Liaise with clients to obtain clarification and additional project details
• Gather and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Maintain and update estimating templates as required
• Prepare and cost change orders for ongoing projects
• Perform other duties as required
