SUMMARY

The Construction Estimator assists in compiling estimates for commercial and industrial building projects. This role supports the estimating team from concept through construction, providing accurate and detailed cost information to guide decision-making. The Estimator works closely with leadership, subcontractors, and internal teams to support preconstruction operations and ensure smooth project execution from the earliest stages.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple project tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • 3+ experience estimating commercial/industrial building projects, demonstrating ability in hard-bid, design-build, and/or conceptual estimating.
  • Growing knowledge of construction systems, trades, and disciplines, including sitework, concrete, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical.
  • Exposure to GC self-performed trades such as concrete or carpentry preferred.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift, Destini, or Sage Estimating.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong integrity and professionalism with a commitment to high ethical standards.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to interact with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
  • Eagerness to grow into greater responsibility within the estimating and preconstruction process.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret contract documents (plans, specifications, and addenda) with guidance from senior team members.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, organize project information, and support analysis of cost data.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers to clarify scope and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and walkthroughs to support accurate estimating.
  • Assist in preparation of proposal solicitations using estimating software with Senior Precon Manager & Business Development team members
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractor and supplier proposals for scope, and competitiveness.
  • Contribute to preparation of bid proposals for submission, under direction of senior estimating staff.
  • Assist in developing & compiling value-engineering and cost-saving options for clients.
  • Assist in collection of historical cost data and estimating database information for future use.
