Description The Construction Estimator position holds a key focus for accurate quantity takeoffs, cost modeling, creation, production and execution of reliable estimates for large scale multifamily projects and includes all facets of construction from site to finishes. In addition to core estimating responsibilities, the role includes supporting procurement and buyout activities to ensure estimates translate cleanly into executed contracts, pricing strategies, and field execution. Responsible for providing quantity estimates for the Plans provided from Schematic Design to Construction Documents Assist in providing Unit Price information for items to be purchased Responsible for meeting deadlines set on Site Cost Estimates, Hard Cost Estimates and any other miscellaneous special projects Responsible for regularly updating Site Cost Estimates and Hard Cost Estimates as bids are received and work with the team to develop Anchor Estimates for Job Cost Reports Create and maintain Contractor & Vendor Historical Pricing Database Add new purchase and product information to Historical Pricing Database Identify appropriate contractors and vendors for projects Assist in verifying change orders proposed by Contractors and Vendors Assist in summarizing data to prepare reports and build comparison grids to enhance decision making and business processes Make recommendations for cost-saving techniques regarding materials and construction procedures Conduct ongoing market research on the following: supply chain, product availability, product pricing, vendors, and estimating accuracy for forecasting project needs As directed, assist with turnover of project deliverables from the preconstruction team to construction/field-operations team with appropriate handoff meetings and documentation. Assist with the solicitation, review and approval of bids, contracts, scopes of work, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, etc. Support purchasing efforts as needed in the review, research, data collection and analysis of proposals/contracts, as well as maintaining proper filing of documents Make periodic field visits to familiarize with products, troubleshoot issues, and evaluate estimates Field questions from field personnel, contractors, and vendors Develop and refine estimating standards, rules, and definitions Stay current with industry software Backfill additional estimator workload as business needs require What We Offer You: At HILLS we’re committed to attracting, advancing and empowering the next generation of leaders in our industry.
