Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating, mechanical / HVAC systems, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record in estimating for commercial and residential projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to gather necessary information for accurate bids.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and calculate costs for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities to optimize project costs.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and present them to clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material costs, and industry standards.
  • Introduce the use of estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) to streamline the estimating process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, certifications in construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience) while not required, is also a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical / HVAC and/or construction estimating or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and external clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet bidding deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPE, AACE) are a plus.
  • Experience with CAD & BIM (Building Information Modeling) software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
