Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in a related field, or Journeyperson certificate with 10+ years of industrial construction or maintenance experience, specifically in Structural Steel, Piping, and/or Mechanical fields.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, with effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
  • Strong understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and appropriately.
  • Knowledge of construction planning and scheduling best practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and planning/scheduling software (P6)

Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Estimator is a key member of Waiward’s Estimating Team. This role supports the Fabrication, Construction, and Maintenance operations teams by expertly evaluating RFPs, identifying labor, material, and subcontractor requirements, and ensuring successful project execution while strengthening proposal submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Review Structural, Piping, Mechanical, and Maintenance RFPs with due diligence.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates according to company standards.
  • Develop detailed construction sequences/steps based on client documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations to develop project execution strategies, including construction step listings, crew sizing, and equipment assignments.
  • Confirm resource availability and capacity with the Operational team to meet project schedules.
  • Assist in Estimate-to-Budget conversions.
  • Participate in pre-award negotiations to ensure contracts comply with terms and conditions.
  • Support process optimization initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain formal and informal relationships within and outside the organization.
