Description:
The Construction Foreman will work with CRCD’s pre-apprenticeship preparation construction program and CRCD Enterprises. The Construction Forman will be responsible for the participant learning outcomes (PLO’s) and hands-on work experience to prepare them for the rigors of the construction industry. Additional duties also include but not limited to: facilitation of construction training and safety curriculum instruction; implementing strategies to meet the goals and objective of the organization’s pre-apprenticeship construction program; directing and motivating participants, delating tasks and ensuring work is completed on-time; establishing, coordinating, and maintaining positive working relationships with housing partners and the building trades; monitoring participants’ daily attendance, ensuring work is performed to the required standards and specification while on work site; evaluating, documenting and reporting participants’ progress and skill development; scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the progress and quality of all construction-related activities; ensuring that adequate and appropriate construction safety procedures are in place, enforcing safety regulations, conducting safety briefings and maintaining a safe working/training environment, developing and managing budgets and expenditures for all construction related projects; guiding participants in the repair and maintenance of residential units; and completing other tasks as assigned.
The Construction Foreman will spend 60% of their time providing construction training, hands-on work experience and work site supervision and oversight in and out of the training center. 25% of the foreman time will be spent on administrative responsibilities which includes training evaluation, data reporting, ordering materials and project management. 15% of the foreman’s time will be used for participant coaching & guidance, in addition to managing union or contractor relationships.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of construction related work and/or associate degree.
  • Familiarity working disadvantaged populations including reentry, disabled, foster, and homeless, preferred.
  • Knowledge of database management and quality control process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in data entry, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint; Salesforce a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable
  • Working knowledge in data tracking systems and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, data entry, and reporting duties.
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Critical thinking to incorporate new strategies and maintain ethical standards.
  • Reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision, who has a good work ethic, and an ability to set and maintain personal boundaries.

  • Reliable transportation: valid driver’s license, and car insurance as required by law.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality training for participants who seek construction careers
  • Assist with outreach activities that include making presentations to non-profit organizations, government agencies, probation/ parole staff and agencies, schools, and conduct door to door outreach in the targeted neighborhood.
  • Ensure participants are engaged and prepared as they go through construction training
  • Conduct daily check-ins with participants to keep them motivated to reach the goals on the Individual Service Plan and keep them informed of program events and relevant information.
  • Participate in program evaluation process.
  • Assist with facilitation of the program’s career and college readiness, leadership, construction training and life skills workshops.
  • Assist with placement in construction apprenticeships, CRCD construction sites, and other employment opportunities.
  • Provide information & referrals for participants who cannot participate in the program due to eligibility criteria or limited program capacity.
  • Follow CRCD procedures regarding recordkeeping, documentation, confidentiality, and
  • maintaining files.
  • Collaborate and confer with other CRCD staff and partners as appropriate to coordinate services and implement the program.
  • Collaborate with Job Developers and Career Coaches to place training graduates in union pre-apprenticeships, or construction related employment.
  • Meet weekly with other staff to plan activities, to strategize on service delivery for participants, and other activities.
  • As needed, input data into CRCD and external data tracking systems to capture and monitor participant performance and services received.
  • Conduct infield inspections and monitoring of special projects
  • Prepare and maintain reports, records, activity logs, work order and compiling statistical data.
  • Assist with oversite of paint/lead workers on tasks associated with lead abatement
  • Delivery of services through CRCD’s Client Centered Approach
  • Uphold CRCD’s Mission Statement and 5 Year Strategic Plan
