Description Position: General Labor II Reports To: Senior Field Staff Manager Department: D19 – Field Construction FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Job Summary: The General Laborer II supports SC Swiderski’s field construction operations across all phases of single-family and multi-family residential building projects. This role provides essential labor support, ensures site cleanliness and organization, assists skilled trades and site leadership, and contributes to safe, high-quality project execution. As employees progress through Levels I–III, they assume increasing independence, technical capability, equipment proficiency, and leadership responsibilities contributing to construction quality, schedule, and jobsite safety. Duties/Responsibilities: Level II: Independent Contributor The General Laborer II through their training and skills, perform all Level I duties with increased independence, technical ability, equipment proficiency, and responsibility for supporting quality control and material management. They are reliable, consistent, and require minimal assistance once they’ve been tasked by their Senior Field Staff Manager. They know what they are doing and can be counted on to perform to expectations accurately and consistently. Perform all General Laborer I tasks independently and with consistent quality. Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization, and material staging without oversight. Assist carpenters, siders, trades, and Site Superintendents in more advanced job tasks. Safely and efficiently operate lifts and jobsite equipment (telehandler, forklift, aerial/boom lift, etc.) where certified. Assist Site Superintendent with material inventory, verifying counts and reporting shortages. Assist with building quality control (checklists, visual inspections, reporting deficiencies). Support project flow by preparing materials, cutting components, and staging work for carpentry and siding teams. Perform frequent lift operations and equipment handling. Help maintain jobsite safety controls, signage, and hazard mitigation. Communicate effectively with construction leadership regarding progress, issues, or safety concerns. Perform other duties as assigned.. Requirements Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Level II: Independent Contributor High school diploma or GED. Two or more years of residential and/or commercial construction experience. Proficient understanding of building materials and construction sequencing. Experience operating lifts (telehandler, boom, forklift, scissor), preferred. Knowledge of reading/interpreting basic blueprints, sketches, or shop drawings. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently. Strong problem-solving, reliability, and teamwork skills. Work Schedule: 45–50 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays as project needs dictate. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines. Must be able to travel between job sites in Central Wisconsin. Must be available for regular in-state travel, with occasional overtime or overnight stays depending on job site location. Work Environment: Primarily outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, noise, weather, and heavy equipment traffic. Collaborative, safety-focused team environment. Physical Requirements: Must have a valid Class D driver’s license to work on our job/property sites. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally. Stand and walk for long periods (up to 10 hours/day). Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and crawling. Ability to climb, work on, and carry ladders. Comfortable working at heights and on multi-story structures. Must be available for regular in-state travel, work 45-50 hours per week (Monday-Friday), with occasional overtime or overnight stays depending on job site location.
