About the role: As a Regional Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor - Construction, you’ll be the go-to expert for HSW across multiple construction sites in the South Island. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and contractors to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of safety and wellbeing. Your day-to-day will include: Lead and support site-based HSW practices aligned with Summerset’s HSW Management System. Support the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) and contractor compliance. Triage all incidents that occur within your portfolio and Investigate incidents with actual or potential high severity, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across allocated sites. Champion wellbeing initiatives including Mates in Construction. Coach and mentor site teams on risk management and HSW processes. Drive the use of Donesafe for incident reporting, contractor management, and risk tracking. Prepare and present HSW reports to senior leadership. About you: You’re a confident and proactive Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional with a strong background in construction. You bring a collaborative mindset and a practical approach to risk management, compliance, and wellbeing. You’ll also bring: Relevant Health & Safety qualifications. 4+ years’ experience in a multi-site construction HSW role. Strong knowledge of NZ Health & Safety legislation. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex technical data. Proven ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
