Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced H&S professional to work alongside the Tender Manager, EQHS Manager and Project Managers and join a leading Contracting Company that works primarily in the Public Sector.
The successful candidate will see H&S as one of their main priorities within their working environment and always go above and beyond to keep it up to standard.
Ideally 7+ years’ experience in construction H&S with experience working on Civil Projects.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Preparation and delivery of site paperwork including Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Inductions and Toolbox Talks.
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards and communicating to all employees.
  • Check to ensure detailed methodologies are in place to cover all works under O’Rourke and Sons Contractor’s control to include risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ensure all O’Rourke and Sons Contractor’s EQHS policies are fully implemented on site.
  • Ensure the delivery of health and safety inductions for all new employees, check all relevant training is in place and recorded on site.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment inspections are up to date in compliance with legal obligations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure proper reporting of all accidents, incidents and near misses on site and assist with the investigation and implementation of corrective action to close out on same.
  • Communicate with site management to close out issues and promote overall continuous improvement.
  • Provide a proactive approach to problem solving and to the various aspects of day-to-day health, safety and environmental management.
  • Provide support & advice to colleagues, subcontractor personnel and other third parties.
  • Deliver lessons learned from audits or investigations, inform staff on permitting requirements and any other H&S information requirements. Compiling, updating and communication of site Emergency, Traffic and Waste Management Plans.
  • Collecting and collating relevant information for inclusion in the Safety File and preparing for handover to the Client at the end of the project.
  • Making changes to working practices making them safer and ensuring they comply with current legislation.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.
  • Reviewing EHS documentation.
  • Maintaining the site records.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Recognised EHS Degree or Diploma (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification preferred)
  • 7+ years in a H&S Construction role
