Description
Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues. Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections. Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions. Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings. Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes. Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes. Maintain Payment Quantity documentation. Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities. Travel will be required to project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, construction oversight, etc. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze problems and provide innovative solutions. The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and possess strong time management skills. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required, particularly with MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook. This position also requires the employee to work year-round in a variety of weather conditions. Preferred candidates will have more than 10 years of experience in civil or utility construction inspection. It is ideal they have a background in civil, mechanical, electrical, and SCADA systems, as well as experience with construction inspection activities on projects ranging from small to large-scale infrastructure. Possession of NASSCO ITCP or PACP certification is highly desirable, as is ACI or NICET certification. Candidates should have completed OSHA 30 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training or be able to obtain this within 30 days of hire. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. Active participation in a regional or national professional association is also encouraged. Additionally, bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
