About the role Techno is seeking a Rail Construction Inspector to support a major transportation infrastructure program based in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full-time, field-based role focused on active rail construction within a dense urban environment. This position offers the opportunity to be directly involved in a high-visibility rail improvement effort that supports long-term regional mobility and modernization. As part of the field inspection team, you will play a key role in maintaining construction quality, safety, and adherence to approved plans across multiple work fronts. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and fellow inspectors to provide real-time oversight and coordination throughout ongoing construction activities. What you'll do Perform on-site inspections of rail construction activities, including track installation, structural elements, and associated civil work Verify that construction operations comply with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards Observe daily field activities and document progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions Coordinate with contractors, resident engineers, and inspection staff to resolve field issues efficiently Maintain accurate inspection logs, reports, and supporting documentation Support quality assurance efforts, including materials verification and workmanship reviews Participate in coordination and progress meetings, providing clear field-level updates Identify constructability concerns and communicate observations to the broader project team Qualifications 5+ years of experience in construction inspection, with a strong focus on railroad or heavy civil infrastructure Working knowledge of rail construction practices, safety procedures, and track-related systems Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation Experience supporting large, multi-discipline transportation or infrastructure projects Strong communication and documentation skills with a high level of attention to detail Ability to work in an active field environment, including night shifts and weekends as required OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; additional inspection or safety certifications are a plus Bonus: Prior experience supporting projects for major rail or transportation agencies, including Amtrak or similar entities, is a plus Join us as we redefine excellence in engineering and construction management, shaping tomorrow's infrastructure landscape with innovation and precision.
