We are seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Infrastructure group working in the GTA supporting our linear construction team. As a Construction Inspector, you will provide an exciting opportunity in construction management supporting our communities with vital infrastructure. Our ideal candidate will have experience ensuring the quality and compliance of watermain and sanitary trunk sewer and forcemain installations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in water or wastewater trunk servicing construction; 10+ years of experience preferred, but will consider candidates with at least 5 years of directly relevant experience.
  • Experience in tunneling projects with different technologies and applications.
  • Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.), and Bluebeam.
  • MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle.

Responsibilities
  • Engineering site inspection of watermain and sanitary trunk sewer and forcemain projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications.
  • Document construction site activities (keeping a detailed daily report log, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions) and identify and monitor deficiencies.
  • Provide problem resolution and field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and participate in construction progress meetings.
  • Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing (for concrete, granular materials, and asphalt) and coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required
