Role description: Arcadis is looking for Construction Managers in Los Angeles, CA. This is an opportunity where you will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing documentation, coordinating with contractors, and providing technical expertise to support successful project delivery, particularly in stormwater and/or wastewater construction projects. As part of our Program and Project Management team, you'll help deliver some of the biggest, most iconic projects imaginable, with some of the best talent around. With your energy, agility and a keen eye for detail, you'll deliver transformational outcomes for multiple clients every day. Role accountabilities: As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, standards, and environmental requirements. You will review and interpret contractor baseline CPM schedules, track progress, and analyze schedule updates. The role includes reviewing and approving contractor shop drawings while validating comments for applicability, as well as processing and responding to RFIs promptly. You will anticipate potential issues, develop solutions, and communicate recommendations to management. Additional responsibilities include preparing and reviewing construction cost estimates, assisting in negotiating change orders, and researching and reporting potential delays or problems with recommended corrective actions. You will organize and maintain accurate construction records in compliance with the electronic record-keeping system, conduct weekly onsite meetings with contractors, and issue detailed meeting minutes. When necessary, you will determine the need for focus meetings to resolve issues and lead these sessions effectively. Frequent project status reports will be provided to management including updates on budget, schedule, and key issues. Finally, you will ensure full execution of construction contracts, including adherence to General Conditions, technical specifications, and standards. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 2 years in stormwater and/or wastewater construction management. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera and MS Project; working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Bureau of Engineering (BOE) practices, City organizations, and electronic record systems (E2020 preferred). Contract & Documentation: Ability to read and interpret construction schedules and documents; experience managing RFIs and negotiating change orders. Analytical Skills: Strong capability to analyze contract requirements and environmental impact compliance. Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective coordination and reporting. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of City construction standards and permitting processes. Experience with public works projects and multi-stakeholder coordination. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong focus on monitoring and assuring compliance with site safety regulations, able to lead by example by following all safety protocols and works towards stablishing a safety first culture on the project.
