Cantiro is currently looking for a Construction Manager to join our Calgary team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 10 years of wood frame construction and site management experience with demonstrated experience in managing multi-family project, front end logistics planning, civil construction, and Alberta Building Code requirements preferred.
  • Construction Engineering, Construction Management Diploma, Master Home Builder, Residential Management and/or Residential Construction Site Manager (RCSM) preferred.
  • Adept use of scheduling software, preferably BuildPRO/MS Project and/or similar suite.
  • Industry related education is an asset.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and a clean drivers abstract required.
  • First Aid Qualified.

REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS

  • This position requires minimum 37.5 hours per week, but additional hours may be required as necessary, to achieve targets.
  • Location is primarily based in Calgary but will require routine travel to Head Office (Edmonton).
  • Normal office and site conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary.

Responsibilities
  • Leads field team in the region including site assistants, superintendents, site labour, trades, and suppliers.
  • Manages, trains, and mentors the field team.
  • Monitors team workloads and recommends adjustments when/if required; optimizes trade/vendor loading and effectiveness to maintain forecasted construction schedules and completions.
  • Directs front-end civil construction on new projects and is responsible for front-end logistics planning for site development ensuring timely installation of both temp and permanent site services.
  • Is an active and visible presence on site to ensure adherence to schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Builds, monitors, adjusts, and trains the field team on schedule templates; their daily use, and effective strategies for field implementation. Conducts routine updates to schedule templates, incorporating lessons learned, process improvements, and project-specific requirements.
  • Tracks and updates office team on schedule status and construction progress.
  • Monitors field-level purchase orders; recommends base budget revisions to mitigate unforeseen costs, identifies opportunities to minimize field driven costs.
  • Facilitates quarterly trade and supplier update meetings.
  • Collaborates with consultants and municipality regarding code and bylaw changes and updates to mitigate schedule and cost ramifications.
  • Participates in preconstruction documentation reviews; drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract requirements, to identify and resolve conflicts, optimize constructability, identify opportunities for value engineering, and ensure adoption of standard construction details.
  • Implements new, and leverages existing, quality control measures to ensure delivery of products that meet both internal and external requirements.
  • Coordinates all quality control inspections in a timely manner to ensure delivery of deficiency free homes to our clients delight and builds relationships to ensure Cantiro customers for life.
  • Supports client care manager and team and acts as management representative to resolve client issues and/or disputes as needed, assists with overflow coverage from construction team if required, at quality control inspections, homeowner orientations, client trade days, etc.
  • Identifies and implements strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Attends and represents region at weekly central production meetings.
  • Fosters the professional growth of field staff, encouraging continuous learning and leadership development.
  • Builds a team culture that values accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Professionally communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prioritizes customer satisfaction.
  • Is an active volunteer representative at BILD meetings and represents Cantiro at regional events and activities.
