Job Description

At Ampol, we believe in the Power of Us - the extraordinary power of people to connect, act, and make a difference.

As a leading energy company operating across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and from the United States, our work spans fuel supply, energy solutions, convenience retail, infrastructure, trading and shipping. Every role at Ampol plays a part in something bigger - powering progress for our customers, communities, and people.

Your career here is yours to shape. We back our people with real opportunities, the tools to grow, and a culture that rewards ownership and initiative. Whether you’re deepening your expertise or taking on something new, we’ll support you to power a career that works for you.

We’re building a workplace where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued - because when people are free to be themselves, powerful things happen.

About Retail

Ampol Retail is one of Australia’s largest convenience and fuel networks. We serve millions of customers each year - whether they’re fuelling up, grabbing coffee, or picking up dinner on the go.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. From frontline teams to support roles, we focus on simple, friendly service that makes life easier for our customers - wherever their journey takes them.

About the role

As Construction Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of a national portfolio of complex retail and infrastructure projects. Managing multiple capital works programs simultaneously, you will drive project performance across planning, safety, commercial outcomes, stakeholder engagement and governance.

From knockdown rebuilds and major site redevelopments to network upgrade programs and equipment rollouts, you'll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and aligned to business priorities. Reporting to the National Construction Manager, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to bring strategic projects to life while continuously improving project delivery standards across the network.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, tendering and delivery of complex, multi-site construction projects and programs.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, risks and resources to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Drive contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual, safety and environmental standards.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Property, Operations, Finance, Engineering and Marketing to align project delivery with business priorities.
  • Oversee governance, change control and capital expenditure management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, providing clear updates, insights and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Lead project close-out activities, including commissioning, handover and lessons learned reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Significant experience leading construction projects within retail, fuel, QSR, infrastructure or multi-site development environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large capital works programs, contractors and project governance frameworks.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, procurement and CAPEX management.
  • Knowledge of project management systems such as Primavera, MS Project, Aconex, Procore, SAP or similar.

Benefits

  • Our total remuneration is competitive. This is across base salary, car allowance, a company performance incentive, employee share offers and a 25% discount on Fuel for two privately used cars!
  • We are flexible. Many of our teams have embraced hybrid work, balancing time spent remote working, with time spent at an office to connect and work together where it adds value.
  • Remote Working: Support for up to 3 months remote international working (conditional to 5 days paid leave for every 30 days of remote work).
  • We value recognition. We have an internal recognition platform amplifying the achievements of those who do great work and demonstrate our capabilities and values.
  • Career development and learning opportunities including LinkedIn Learning and other tailored training solutions.
  • Baby Care Package - financial and flexible support for parents transitioning back to work.
  • Need some wheels? Novated Lease options are available.
  • Invest in your future with the Employee Share Scheme
  • Leave Options – Flexible leave options include annual leave, wellbeing and bonus days throughout the year and optional additional purchased leave.
  • Care for your Community. Spend one paid day a year volunteering with one of our Ampol Foundation partners.

Parramatta NSW

Full job description

The Company

At Mono Constructions, our purpose is simple: To create the safest places on earth, where everyone can be their best – At Home. At Work. At Play.

Since 2002, we’ve delivered Class 2 apartment, medium-density mixed-use and commercial construction projects across NSW.

With a strong pipeline of work and sustainable growth plans, we're looking for a Construction Manager to lead project delivery teams and drive operational excellence across our upcoming pipeline.

Already working as a Construction Manager? We’d like to hear from you. A highly experienced Senior Site Manager who’s ready to take the next step into Construction Management? We’d equally like to hear from you.

Your Key Contributions

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you will:

  • Lead the successful delivery of multiple residential apartment projects.
  • Drive construction programs in collaboration with Site Managers and Project Managers.
  • Ensure compliance with Class 2 building requirements, NCC, WHS legislation and quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractor, consultant and stakeholder relationships.
  • Identify project construction risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Design and Project Management teams to support design management, procurement strategies and buildability reviews.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across all projects.
  • Be a trusted and approachable leader who supports, mentors and develops team members, fostering a culture of openness, accountability and high performance.

What You Bring

You’re an experienced construction professional with a strong track record in apartment delivery and the capability to operate at Construction Manager level.

You may already be an established Construction Manager, or you may be a highly experienced Senior Site Manager ready to step up and take broader responsibility across multiple projects and teams.

You will have:

  • 10+ years of construction experience, with significant experience as a Construction Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience delivering at least five Class 2 apartment projects across medium to high-density residential construction, from excavation through to handover.
  • Strong construction methodology, programming, quality and WHS capability.
  • The leadership capability to oversee and support multiple project and site teams.
  • Ability to lead Site Managers, Foremen, subcontractors and project teams.
  • The ability to move beyond day-to-day management of a single site and take a broader view of construction delivery, risk and performance.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building & Construction, Construction Management, Engineering or similar.
  • Current full driver’s licence.
  • Procore experience is desirable but not mandatory.

You don't need to already hold the Construction Manager title. If you've established yourself as a strong Senior Site Manager and you're ready for the next step, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Gain

At Mono, you’ll get:

  • A competitive salary package.
  • The opportunity to lead construction across our pipeline projects.
  • The opportunity to take the next step in your construction leadership career, with direct exposure to broader project and operational decision-making.
  • Structured systems and processes certified by ISO and the Federal Safety Scheme.
  • Culture of FRANK: We live by our values – Focus, Respect, Anticipate, Never Give Up, Kindness. These guide how we lead, collaborate and succeed as one team.
  • Positive Impact: Make a real difference in communities across NSW.

Ready to Build with Us?

Whether you're an experienced Construction Manager or a Senior Site Manager who knows you're ready for more, we'd like to hear from you.

This opportunity is being managed directly by Mono Constructions. Applications from recruitment agencies will not be considered at this stage.
