Description
Royal Ocean Marine is seeking a highly experienced Construction Manager (Newbuild) to lead and manage new shipbuilding projects from inception through to delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all construction activities, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. You will work closely with shipyards, designers, and internal teams to drive the successful execution of newbuild projects, maintaining safety and compliance throughout all phases. Key Responsibilities Coordinating the activities onsite to achieve project planning, quality goal and safe execution To ensure subcontractor/vendor perform the work according to the project requirement includes but not limited to project specification, classification rules, mandatory regulation and good industry practices Close communication with owner reps and classification surveyor to resolve any technical issue arisen in the construction execution phase Monitor the performance of the subcontractor and supplier, taking necessary action to resolve the quality and safety related issues, including but not limited to re-training, fines, dismissal of the person involved Provide the lesson learn report to prevent the recurrence of the non-compliances Provides the production planning to ensure the construction activities are carried out in the right sequence and minimized the rework Coordinate all onsite activities to ensure project milestones are achieved while maintaining uncompromising standards for quality and safety. Ensure all subcontractors and vendors adhere strictly to project specifications, Classification Society rules, mandatory regulations, and established industry best practices. Maintain proactive communication with Owner Representatives and Class Surveyors to identify and resolve technical challenges during the construction and execution phases. Monitor and evaluate subcontractor and supplier performance; implement corrective actions for quality or safety breaches, ranging from mandatory retraining and financial penalties to the dismissal of non-compliant personnel. Develop comprehensive Lesson Learned reports to identify root causes of non-compliance and implement preventative measures for future projects. Formulate detailed production schedules to ensure construction activities follow a logical sequence, maximizing resource utility and minimizing costly rework Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in managing newbuilding ship construction projects. In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes, maritime regulations, and classification standards. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and work effectively with various stakeholders. Proficiency with project management software and tools. Willingness and ability to travel to shipyards and project sites as required. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
