POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Construction Millwright will primarily be responsible to assist with the installation of various grain storage, drying and material handling equipment applications, in accordance with the established standards. This position will perform and learn various forms of millwright and general labour as part of a team that focuses on safety, quality and productivity. This role will also support our client base through assigned service and preventative maintenance tasks when necessary. The ideal candidate will enjoy learning and be receptive to on-the-job training and instruction. The successful candidate is highly motivated, reliable and will take pride in producing a high quality finished product.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and means of daily/reliable transportation to and from our main location in Dover Centre (A, AZ or DZ license not required but considered an asset).
  • Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.
  • Be prepared and punctual for all scheduled jobs and company meetings.
  • Stay up to date and adapt to changes in the workplace as well as changes to position requirements as required to facilitate proper business flow.
  • Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a professional demeanor; be an ambassador for Devolder Farms Inc.
  • Complete required reports/administrative work immediately or as required throughout shift.
  • Ability to work in any outdoor work environments on a daily basis (i.e., hot/humid and cold work elements).
  • Physically able to perform any and all construction work activities, including but not limited to standing/sitting for long periods of time, handling sharp steel products, individually lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 100 lbs, bending, climbing, reaching, and twisting.
  • Willingness to travel is required. Jobs are local to the Chatham-Kent area, as well as throughout Southwestern Ontario. Occasional overnight travel should be expected and can vary based on market demands between approximately 8%, upwards of 40% in a calendar year. Workers typically work Monday to Friday, however, some weekends may be included in regular work hours or overnight travel.
  • Shift days and times may vary depending on departmental and/or seasonal demands. Ability to work extended hours and days when needed required.
  • Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.
  • CSA steel toed construction grade safety boots in designated area(s).

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Millwright trade certification program completion an asset but not required (must provide proof).
  • Three – five years’ millwright experience preferred.
  • Experience with the installation and maintenance of material handling equipment and grain storage systems, as well as custom fabrication (or transferable skills and abilities from work experience in a similar construction environment).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and manuals.
  • Willingness to work at heights requied; valid training certification is an asset.
  • Valid training certifications are considered an asset and any related previous work experience should be highlighted; i.e., Working at Heights, Fall Arrest, Aerial Lift, Elevated Work Platforms, Hoisting and Rigging, Confined Space, Lift Truck, etc.
  • Ability to manage priorities, execute tasks efficiently and work under pressure to facilitate proper business flow.
  • Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily work requirements are met.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and adopt a cooperative team player attitude
  • Willing to work overtime when required.
  • Strong mathematical knowledge.
  • Strong and effective verbal and listening communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Highly motivated and extreme attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Autonomous, honest and trustworthy.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform various forms of labour to assist in the successful completion of construction projects from start to finish (including but not limited to new steel equipment installations, dismantling of existing equipment, custom fabrication, repairs and preventative maintenance).
  • Knowledge of safe operation of custom hand, power and air tools, as well as equipment and various machining and fabrication tools.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment issues and perform repairs as needed.
  • Perform hoisting and rigging tasks in a safe and productive manner.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance duties as required.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments, as necessary, to ensure fulfillment of all millwright requirements.
  • Communicate to direct reporting supervisor/manager all delays or variance in jobs/work schedules.
  • Demonstrate initiative to complete tasks independently, with the support of the Grain Systems department and other staff, as applicable.
  • Complete required reports/administrative work immediately/as required throughout shift.
  • Document and report defects, errors and discrepancies for inspection or repair.
  • Interact with customers, vendors and/or other personnel in a positive and courteous manner, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Assist in facilitating orientation and hands on-training within new staff, as applicable.
  • Troubleshoot areas of concern, identify and collaborate with supervisor and Project Manager for efficiency improvements and/or quality of work/products.
  • Work in compliance with all administrative and health and safety policies and procedures, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies.
  • Report process deficiencies and any administrative or health and safety policy or procedural infractions, as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies, to your direct reporting supervisor/manager, or other designate as applicable, for review.
  • Assist in all departments, as required and directed.
  • Lead by example.
