POSITION SUMMARY

ESI is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Civil Construction Paralegal to provide crucial legal support to our project teams, contracting department, and legal counsel. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction law principles, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex documentation effectively. This role will involve a wide range of responsibilities related to contract administration, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and project support.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Understanding fundamentals of legal processes, court procedures and legal regulations.
  • meticulous attention to detail.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with attorneys, other staff members, and clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Strong Research and Analytical Skills regarding laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Ability to provide guidance to project managers to ensure compliance with construction law.
    Experience: Minimum 3 years working as a Paralegal or B.A/ Paralegal Certificate.

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (hard hat, eye & ear protection, safety vest, gloves, dust mask or respirator, fall protection gear, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and interpret construction contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and other project-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulations related to construction law, land use, and environmental issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal documents including preparing and filing mechanics lines, settlement agreements and lien releases.
  • Support the claims management process, including gathering and organizing relevant documentation, assisting with investigations, and preparing claim summaries.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between legal counsel, project managers, subcontractors, and external parties.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations affecting construction projects.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal legal policies and procedures related to construction activities.
  • Prepare and maintain project close-out documentation from a legal perspective.
  • Manage and track critical dates and deadlines related to contracts, claims, and litigation.
  • Perform other paralegal duties as assigned.
  • Maintain precise records of all Disputes and claim files.
  • Prepare and mail all required mechanics lien documents.
