Responsibilities

KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Trainer/Assessor to deliver the NOCN Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This qualification is essential for learners aiming to achieve their CSCS Green Card to access UK construction sites as non-skilled workers.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging training sessions, supporting learners throughout their programme, and conducting assessments in line with awarding body requirements.

SOME OF THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Programme Delivery: Deliver high-quality lessons for in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (Level 1), following the guidelines set by regulatory bodies.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assess and evaluate students’ performance through exams, practical assessments, and coursework, ensuring all training outcomes and qualifications are achieved.
  • Curriculum Development: Update and improve course content to reflect the latest industry regulations and best practices in line with awarding bodies such as Trident, Laser Learning Awards, and NOCN.
  • Student Support: Provide academic support and mentorship to students, ensuring they are adequately prepared for examinations and the practical demands of security roles.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all training and assessments comply with SIA and other regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback, including compliance with EQA and other external reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry changes, security legislation, and training best practices. Attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions and participate in internal training as needed.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist in maintaining student attendance records, preparing reports for internal and external audits, and contributing to quality assurance processes.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Subject matter expert in construction health & safety.
  • Hold (or be working towards) a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • Hold (or be working towards) a recognised assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1, CAVA).
  • Verifiable, current industry experience in construction/health & safety.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and learner support skills.
  • Commitment to CPD and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of health & safety practices.
  • Recognised vocational qualification for the programs that are delivered.
