Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Sencat is a growing business and are actively undertaking project works and costing new tenders from existing and new clients, are BID team have been successful in getting the company on new frameworks. The company growth has seen an opening to invest in an estimation department which is currently being performed by senior management and contract managers, the role will include the development and management of the estimation department and working closely with our bidding department to secure new works. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the drive to help mould this new department within an already successful and growing facilities management company.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced estimator to cost manage construction projects and support bidding and cost analysis efforts for capital works and major refurbishment works mainly within the mental health sector and the NHS Trust sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of refurbishment projects and change of use projects, including M&E works, building and fabrication works, ensuring competitiveness and profitability throughout.

KEY DUTIES

  1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for tendered projects, contract minor/major, and capital works.
  2. Review tender documents, technical specifications, and scope of work to understand client requirements and identify key cost drivers.
  3. Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to obtain competitive quotations.
  4. Develop cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and risk assessments using appropriate tools and software.
  5. Assist the business development and BID team in responding to RFPs, RFQs, and ITTs with compliant and commercially sound pricing.
  6. Conduct site visits, surveys, and evaluations to support accurate estimating when required.
  7. Identify cost-saving opportunities and offer alternative solutions that meet performance and compliance requirements.
  8. Liaise with clients, contractors, project managers, and engineers.
  9. Support the handover of successful bids to the operations team and assist with any cost variations or change orders during project delivery.
