About Us: Brawn Construction Ltd. provides general contracting services, specializing in commercial and institutional renovations and low rise construction. Some of our clients include the federal government, local municipalities, public schools, universities and private businesses.
Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan and manage a range of commercial construction projects from start to finish. Project experience ranging from $1M to $10M is required. The successful candidate will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. An excellent Construction Project Manager must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines/trades to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage budgets and cost forecasting
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and tradespersons
  • Manage and schedule labour and subcontractors and provide guidance and supervision as needed
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and monitor progress
  • Maintain Health and Safety standards and ensure safety policies are strictly adhered to
  • Purchase supplies, tools and materials
  • Document control
  • Change Management
  • Prepare progress reports and billings
  • Build and maintain client and supplier relationships
  • Prepare project close out documents
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and on time

Job Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma or Engineering degree, and/or equivalent knowledge & experience is preferred
  • minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial general contracting in a similar role
  • Ability to prepare and track budgets
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Understanding of project forecasting and projections
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to identify and manage priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed with an ability to work autonomously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, MS Project & BlueBeam Revu
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and the occasional weekend
  • Valid G class drivers license and clean driving record
  • Secret Clearance or ability to obtain Secret Clearance through PWGSC
  • Experience in retail construction is preferred
  • PMP Certification would be asset
