FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Location: Port Perry and surrounding areas

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Construction Director of Projects, you will take full ownership of residential construction projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for managing multiple construction sites simultaneously—working closely with site crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. From detailed planning and scheduling to quality assurance, change order management, and customer communication, you will play a key role in ensuring each project is delivered efficiently, on time, and on budget.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15-20years of experience in residential construction project management, including renovations, additions, and custom home builds.
  • 15-20 years of trade experience in bricklaying, tiling and carpentry, qualifications preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario Building Code and ability to interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings. Evidence of recent work involving work permits.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects up to and above an estimated worth of $10,000,000.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams, over 30 subcontractors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relationships and knowledge of material suppliers and trades within Southern Ontario. Evidence of working with at least 20 trade companies in the last 3 years.
  • Skilled in scheduling, budgeting, quality assurance, trade coordination, and construction documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Quickbooks and project management software.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented team leader with strong time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Driving licence and vehicle to transport material and tools.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all phases of residential construction projects, including renovations, additions, and custom home builds—from planning and design through construction and closeout.
  • Ensure timely delivery, scope compliance, and budget control across all assigned projects.
  • Create detailed construction schedules, budgets, and material take-offs; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Hire, coordinate, and supervise subcontractors, trades, and internal staff across multiple job sites.
  • Responsible for co-op placement students- ensuring key learning objectives are safely achieved and assessed throughout their placement.
  • Onsite training to all appropriate trades and employees on new techniques and codes to be delivered quarterly.
  • Perform regular on-site inspections to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to building codes and project specifications.
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and construction draws.
  • Track and submit all change orders, ensuring documentation is accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Submit daily/weekly reports, upload material receipts, and manage all site-related financial paperwork.
  • Monitor material usage, anticipate shortages, and minimize waste to avoid project delays.
  • Resolve issues promptly and effectively; be available on-call for urgent matters.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality of work.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Represent the company professionally and uphold its values and reputation at all times.
