Are you a skilled Project Manager with a passion for out-of-the-box project management in remote, awe-inspiring locations? NIC is looking for a dynamic Project Manager to become an integral part of our expanding team at our Yellowknife office.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Project Manager works closely with the operations team and field staff to ensure successful project delivery within specified timelines and budgets. The Project Manager is responsible for tasks such as:

  • Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for project completion, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and prepare detailed material take-offs as the leader of material procurement activities for remote projects.
  • Implement safety standards and quality assurance controls to minimize exposure and risk.
  • Coordinate the work of subcontractors across multiple projects and phases.
  • Oversee the performance of trade contractors, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Accurately forecast revenue, profitability, and project costs. Manage and achieve revenue goals set for projects.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of construction projects and client interactions, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Administer the submittal review process between subcontractors/suppliers and the owner or owner’s representative.
  • Review field inspection reports and maintain the Contract Execution Tracking Log.
  • Proactively identify changes in project scope and ensure appropriate measures are taken.
  • Report project progress to owners, engineers, and portfolio managers, proposing necessary modifications to plans.
  • Conduct project meetings and keep stakeholders informed about project status and potential issues.
  • Manage day-to-day client interactions and expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Background in carpentry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential, commercial, and light industrial construction (experience preferred)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
  • High level of initiative and keen interest in problem-solving.
  • Strong time management skills with experience meeting hard deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Willingness to visit job sites as needed, typically on a quarterly basis.
  • Valid driver’s license with 3 years of experience and a clean abstract.
