JOB SUMMARY
The Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in leading all pre-construction planning and coordination to ensure the successful execution of capital projects across the Salt Lake City School District. This role manages multi-year projects from inception to completion while meeting established budgets, timelines, and quality standards. The Construction Project Manager ensures compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes, guidelines from the State Office of Education, district procedures, and Board objectives. The Construction Project Manager works closely and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including district staff, city and county officials, transportation, engineering, and public utilities departments, architects, contractors, and community members.
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of capital projects, while ensuring that work sites are safe and functional, and completed projects will be conducive to a positive learning environment. The Construction Project Manager will be involved in strategic decision-making in the planning, design, and development of new construction projects, facility improvements, and long-term planning, ensuring that the district’s planned projects support both current and future educational needs.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services, the Project Manager collaborates closely to develop and manage project budgets. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems and operations, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining open lines of communication with district leadership, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
