JOB DESCRIPTION

Baydo Contracting Corp. is seeking a dedicated and proactive Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to ensure a safe working environment across all company construction sites. The CSO will develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures, conduct training, inspect facilities, coordinate with regulatory authorities, and investigate incidents to prevent future occurrences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Certificate or NCSO designation.
  • Advanced First Aid Certification.
  • Experience in safety management and program administration.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to lead safety meetings and deliver training sessions effectively.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous safety coordination experience on high-rise or multi-storey construction projects.
Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

The CSO is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment, particularly for high-rise residential and commercial tower projects. This includes developing site-specific safety policies, conducting training, inspecting work environments, ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC, and supporting management in safety program development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures across all sites.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with Site Management to create project-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and maintain safety records.
  • Train and educate staff on safety procedures and proper equipment use.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and other applicable regulations.
  • Perform First Aid duties and maintain reporting protocols.
