WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 1–4 years of related experience in construction safety, or a mix of education and experience
  • Certified as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or equivalent—or eligible for certification
  • Experience using third-party platforms such as ISNetworld and ComplyWorks
  • Standard First Aid Level C (or willing to obtain)
  • Excellent knowledge of OH&S legislation and construction practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re hiring a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to help lead our safety program on construction sites in the Fort McMurray area. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is a mix of boots-on-the-ground safety oversight and strategic support. You’ll be responsible for daily site inspections, documentation, training, and helping our team deliver safe, high-quality projects with a focus on zero incidents.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead and support site-level health and safety practices with minimal direction
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintain detailed records in our safety management system
  • Deliver health and safety orientations to new workers
  • Prepare and manage safety documentation (e.g., FLHA, JHA, permits)
  • Maintain inventories of hazardous products, first aid supplies, and PPE
  • Assist in developing project-specific safety plans (PSSP) and reports
  • Support internal and external safety audits; help maintain COR certification
  • Liaise with third-party platforms (ISNetworld, ComplyWorks)
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and provide consultative support
  • Provide regulatory guidance and maintain strong relationships with OH&S authorities
  • Participate in accident investigations and help implement corrective actions
  • Assist the team in continuous improvement and problem-solving
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and travel to job sites as required
