C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Architectural or Mechanical).
  • Minimum 10 to 12 years of experience in curtain wall or building envelope project management. Strong technical understanding of curtain wall systems, materials, and sequencing.
  • Proven leadership skills, autonomy, and ability to handle high-value and high-risk projects independently.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and construction contracts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and milestones, and devise solutions to unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work systematically and in an organized manner.
  • Ability to produce timely concise and clear reports to describe the progress of the works, as well as future planning and organization.
  • Excellent written and spoken French and English communication.
  • Good knowledge of computer software, especially Autocad, MS Office (especially excel, word & Microsoft project)

  • High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to lead meetings with consultants, contractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

A. PURPOSE

Would you like to play a strategic role in an expanding company? You have a strong experience in project management, you are a dynamic, autonomous, and organized person? Our company is looking for a Senior project manager to work in major projects in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

  • Proper understanding of all the project requirements (Scope, Specifications, Contract administration…)
  • Oversee the complete life cycle of assigned projects from tendering to final handover, ensuring alignment with company goals, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Lead the tendering process, coordinating with the Technical Manager for estimation, reviewing contractual terms, client requirements, and proposing execution strategies.
  • Establish clear project milestones, risk controls, and budgetary oversight mechanisms to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.
  • Maintain high client satisfaction by ensuring communication, quality deliverables, and timely issue resolution.
  • Maximize project rentability by abiding by the relevant budget and trying to improve on it.
  • Promote continuous improvement, quality control, and lessons learned documentation to refine project management processes.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Detailed study of the project during tender and upon assignment in view of the project contractual clauses, drawings, planning, quantities, specifications and making sure there are no contradictions.
  2. Lead project kickoff meetings and conduct full project reviews including drawings, scope, budget, specifications, and schedules. Prepare the project starting kit (Trousse Initiale).
  3. Ensure proper understanding and dissemination of contract obligations, risks, and deliverables to the internal team.
  4. Prepare and update project schedules, cash flow and risk matrix in coordination with all departments.
  5. Lead the preparation of progress reports, monthly schedules, and client-facing documentation.
  6. Oversee timely submittals of drawings, materials, technical documents, and RFIs in collaboration with the Technical Manager. Coordinate with the technical department to issue a schedule of submittals.
  7. Prepare all material submittals and issue a compliance sheet via referring to the project specifications.
  8. Maintain organized documentation, tracking sheets, and server directories for efficient project follow-up.
  9. Issue Variation Orders for the additional works or any variation to the contract agreement, after coordination with all departments.
  10. Issue all outgoing correspondence with the Client regarding the site readiness delays, missing data / info, outstanding VOs, pending approvals, shop drawings, material and technical submittals. Collaborate with consultants and clients for approvals, clarifications, and timely decisions.
  11. Coordinate internal and external meetings, ensuring MOMs are distributed and followed up.
  12. Monitor and control project expenditures, validating cost alignment with the approved budget and ensuring proactive forecasting. Ensuring contractual clauses, specification & drawings are respected at all times.
  13. Issue periodic payment certificate according to the progress of works. Follow up its approval.
  14. Review and follow up on design concepts, shop drawings, and structural systems with the Technical Manager.
  15. Monitor site survey with the assigned superintendent and make sure to coordinate with technical department and contractor if any discrepancy.
  16. Make sure there’s no clash with other trades and closely coordinate with all subcontractors
  17. Ensure that technical proposals remain within budget and aligned with execution feasibility.
  18. Coordinate with technical department to issue shopping carts for the needed material / subcontracting.
  19. Meet with various subcontractors & suppliers to assess their capabilities and select the best in terms of delivery duration, price and payment terms and quality depending on the job requirements. Ensure that the contract specifications are fulfilled.
  20. Coordinate with the Technical Manager to finalize requests for quotations, purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
  21. Ensure all approved technical documentation is implemented properly on site and in fabrication.
  22. Monitor procurement and delivery schedules to avoid delays and cost overruns.
  23. Coordinate closely with fabrication, logistics, procurement, and site execution teams to resolve any conflicts or bottlenecks.
  24. Review product samples and mockups with quality and project requirements in mind.
  25. Supervise site readiness, installation sequences, and quality inspections.
  26. Ensuring their entire team is maintaining a proper written culture.
  27. Ensure that safety, quality, and schedule standards are maintained across site operations.
  28. Issue request for inspections and get client’s approval.
  29. Prepare final project close-out, including handover documentation, lessons learned, and post-mortem evaluations.
  30. Prepare the Post Mortem - an assessment report at the completion of the project and coordinate with all departments to issue the lessons learned
