We are hiring a Site Assistant / Carpenter for a fixed-term position on our new McDonald's restaurant build in Penticton, BC — a ground-up, single-storey wood-frame quick-service restaurant at 698 Eckhardt Ave W. This is a hands-on field role supporting the Site Superintendent to keep the site running smoothly through to completion. The term runs from August 3, 2026 to approximately the end of October 31, 2026, tracking the project's construction schedule. Position Details: Project: New ground-up restaurant in Penticton, BC Term: Fixed-term - approximately July 27, 2026 to end of October 31, 2026 (aligned to the project schedule, may extend) Location: On-site, Penticton. Candidates must be local or able to reliably commute to Penticton for the duration of the project. Hours: Day shift. Some evening, night, or weekend hours may be required depending on the project schedule. Job Duties: Site support — Work on site under the Site Superintendent to keep the site running smoothly Carpentry & general tasks — handyman work and carpentry tasks (e.g. backing, building hoarding, formwork) plus all other assistance required on site Site maintenance — cleaning and organizing the site for trade access and efficiency Trade coordination — call trades ahead of scheduled work to confirm readiness and help keep the schedule moving through efficient, quality work Safety — complete daily hazard assessments, site inspections, sign-in sheets, and trade orientations under our COR Safety Program Documentation — take progress photos and support daily logs and documentation in Procore Deficiencies — wrap up all items at close of the project Personal Characteristics: Driven — self-motivated and ready to push things forward no matter the circumstance Energetic — takes on challenges with enthusiasm Humble — willing to admit a mistake and take ownership Personable — builds solid relationships with trade partners and co-workers Reliable — dependable and punctual — on site before trades, stays after they leave Qualifications: 3+ years' experience in the construction industry Carpentry ticket or trade qualification an asset — we welcome apprentices (Level 1, 2, 3) and Red Seal Carpenters Solid hands-on construction knowledge — understanding of the construction process, materials, tools and machinery, and trade sequencing Ability to work independently without close supervision Ability to communicate and problem-solve effectively with supervisors, team members and subcontractors Comfortable with (or willing to learn) Procore for daily logs and photos Must have independent transportation and the ability to get to the Penticton site Why Join Us: Competitive pay — $38–$40 per hour, commensurate with experience Technology — a modern construction software set-up including Procore, OutBuild, BuildingConnected and Microsoft Teams Opportunity — strong performers on this term project may be considered for future opportunities with Novacom, including pathways toward Site Foreman and Site Superintendent roles Culture — join a company with a family dynamic where you're known by your co-workers and supported to grow
