REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in site management, with relevant heritage or conservation experience
· SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
· CSCS Managerial Card (Black or White).
· First Aid at Work (3-day) certification.
· Strong working knowledge of traditional building techniques and materials (lime mortar, slate, leadwork, etc.).
· Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams on live construction sites.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
· Understanding of construction programmes, sequencing, and project reporting.
· Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
· NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent.
· Background in trades such as masonry, carpentry, or roofing is a plus.
· Experience working with or alongside organisations such as Historic England, National Trust, or local conservation officers.
· Familiarity with CDM Regulations and heritage-specific risk management.
· Membership of CIOB, IHBC, or similar professional body.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
As Site Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring all work is carried out safely, on time, and to the highest conservation standards. You’ll work closely with subcontractors, conservation specialists, and client teams to deliver exceptional results on complex and historically significant projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Manage daily site operations for heritage and conservation construction project.
· Assist the Project Manager in project completion and handover to the client
· Oversee the management of H&S on site in line with sub-contractor RAMS and Safe systems of work
· Coordinate subcontractors and in-house trades to deliver specialist works such as stone masonry, lime plastering, structural timber repairs, roofing, etc.
· Implement and monitor site-specific health and safety plans, including RAMS.
· Ensure compliance with listed building consents, heritage regulations, and relevant UK legislation.
· Liaise with conservation officers, design team, client representatives, and heritage consultants to resolve technical and practical issues.
· Protect and preserve existing historic fabric throughout all construction phases.
· Maintain site records, including daily logs, labour records, and quality control checks.
· Drive the project programme and flag delays or risks to senior management promptly.
· Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and regular health & safety audits.
· Contribute to quality assurance, defect management, and successful project completion and client handover
