Description

We are seeking a Construction Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) for federal construction projects at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
*This is a temporary, full-time role expected to last less than 6 months. Duration may vary depending on project needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum 5 years of prior experience in construction
  • Must be familiar with EM 385-1-1; current certificate preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction training certification (within the last five years)
  • Complete an average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years.
  • Complete 40-hour Construction Hazard Awareness Course
  • Achieve certification as a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Computer skills including MS Office applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task with ease
  • SSHO shall be present at the project site, located so they have full mobility and reasonable access to all major work operations during the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee project site to ensure safe work conditions
  • Plan, implement and supervise project safety per compliance with corporate safety program standards
  • Identify, document and correct unsafe site conditions in coordination with site operations management
  • Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee and subcontractor activities through safety management and contacting supervisory personnel
  • Supervise and administer safety/first aid activities including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing and training
  • Assist corporate program by developing employee and subcontractor safety orientation training program and implement upon completion
  • Conduct work area surveillance inspections, property damage and personal injury investigations
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities
  • Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
