JOB SUMMARY

As the Site Superintendent at Hilson Construction, you will be a critical part of our project management team, responsible for the day-to-day oversight of construction projects from inception to completion. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to manage all on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a hands-on problem-solver with a strong background in commercial and/or residential construction. You will be responsible for coordinating with subcontractors and ensuring strict compliance with all safety regulations, embodying our company’s core values of safety and excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive site experience in civil construction.
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil works, including excavation, paving, utilities, and formwork.
  • Proven ability to manage site operations independently from start to completion.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with hands-on experience in excavation, formwork, paving, and other civil works.
  • In-depth knowledge of BCBC codes and municipal requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Outlook, and other project management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft professional emails and reports.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple trades and stakeholders.
  • Safety-oriented mindset with experience enforcing site health and safety programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset.

    Pay: $93,600.00-$114,400.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all on-site civil construction activities and direct the work of subcontractors, trades, and on-site staff.
  • Supervise and coordinate trades, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
  • Lead and run site meetings with trades and project stakeholders.
  • Interpret and apply the BCBC (British Columbia Building Code) and ensure compliance with all regulations, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Review drawings and specifications and provide guidance to the team on execution.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain construction schedules using MS Project.
  • Assist in project planning, site logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Support the project management team with progress reporting, documentation, and client updates.
  • Ensure proper site documentation, including daily reports, safety records, and deficiency tracking.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment and provide mentorship to site staff when required.
  • Proactively identify issues and implement solutions to maintain project progress.
