SENIOR SITE SUPERINTENDENT

The Site Superintendent takes the lead role in executing large-scale, mid-rise and high-rise, multi-residential construction projects from site mobilization through to occupancy.
The Senior Site Superintendent is responsible for the on-site leadership and execution of large-scale mid-rise and high-rise residential developments. You will manage all aspects of the construction site, including safety programs, trade coordination, site logistics, construction sequencing, and on-time delivery. This role is accountable for ensuring the highest standards of quality and professionalism while fostering a culture of safety and collaboration.

Location: Project sites in Halifax Regional Municipality, primarily focused mixed-use high-rise developments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of construction experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent on high-rise, multi-residential or mixed-use projects
  • Strong understanding of structural, envelope, mechanical, and life safety systems
  • Experience leading full-site operations from shoring to occupancy
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Commitment to high safety standards
  • Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (MS Project, Procore, etc.) and construction documentation
  • Gold Seal Certification, Red Seal Trade Certification, or equivalent an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Able to complete a background check upon successful hire

    - Able to lift, stand/walk for long periods, and navigate uneven terrain

Responsibilities
  • Take full site-level ownership of mid-rise and high-rise, multi-phase construction projects, from excavation to occupancy.
  • Develop and execute detailed construction plans and schedules in alignment with project milestones.
  • Lead site kickoff, coordination, and weekly progress meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Interpret and implement all plans, specifications, and shop drawings with deep knowledge of high-rise structural systems, building envelopes, and mechanical integration.
  • Provide clear direction, mentorship, and supervision to site teams including Assistant Superintendents, Coordinators, and Operations Partners.
  • Oversee and coordinate all subcontractors, trades, and suppliers, ensuring accountability for quality and timelines.
  • Manage critical path activities such as tower crane operations, formwork, vertical transportation, and envelope installation.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive site logistics, hoisting strategies, and sequencing of trades for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain full compliance with all occupational health & safety standards; lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure all permits, inspections, and regulatory requirements are fulfilled without delay.
  • Prepare and maintain site documentation, including daily logs, progress photos, safety reports, and deficiency tracking.
